●phonics approach - teaching chileren to match individual letters of the alpqhabet with specific English pronunciations . For example, when teaching 'cat' , teacher teach each letter 'c', 'a','t' , seperating to phonic.
●lingusitics approach- using a scientific knowledge of language and exposes children to certain carefully selected words containgin regular spelling patterns. For example, showing the simislar word groups such as take-bake-lake-cake

●sight words -teaching childeren to recognize whole words, using flash cards
●basal reader approaches - based upon the notion that childeren should be taught to read through careful control and sequencing of the language and the sounds that they are exposed to

Socio-psycholinguistic

●LEA (Language Experience Approach) - children are given material to read that they are already familiar with, reading story reapeatedly
●Literature based- using children's literature with the intention of focusing on meaning, interest, and enjoyment, while addressing individual children's needs in teaching them to read
●whole language approach- using authentic text and activity . not just teaching reading
